oday at the Heartwood Project was an absolute adventure, packed with hard with and peaceful moments. We started the day by cleaving wood to create a small hurdle and sawing pallet wood for kindling, turning basic materials into useful building material.
After making sure our tadpole friends were fed with cucumber, the team began breaking down pallets to construct a brand-new planter. We also found time to sand some oak for beautiful new chopping boards.
The second half of the day was spent on a lovely, sunny walk where we pushed through brambles and tall bracken, eventually stopping to hug some beautiful trees and rest by an incredible ancient beech. One of our students even enjoyed their very first ripe blackberry of the season, and the hammocks were set up for some well-deserved relaxation.
