Fruit Corner gets a haircut

Tuesday at Heartwood was a gorgeous warm and sunny day but not so hot it was hard to work. In the morning we all did different activities and these included using the shears to cut down the very long grass in Fruit Corner and planting out the final radish and spinach. Unfortunately, the slugs had discovered the young plants that were hardening off outside the poly tunnel, as well as Helen's precious broccoli plants in the new planter. They only lasted a week and she is very disappointed. Fruit Corner was given a good water. The ground was very grateful for the heavy rainfall on Sunday night.

Other morning activities included: pallet breaking and de-nailing, and making a start on the side wall for the timber store.

In the afternoon, we went for a group walk to collect 3 car tyres to be used for growing the potatoes and bagged up 30 more bags of charcoal. mark is delighted as we have already passed the record of 135 bags from one burn and this one looks like it might reach 150!
