Planting, fixing, breaking and making

We have had a busy day at Heartwood. There was a lot of sawing and splitting pallet wood to make kindling. Mark and some of the students were fixing the other log trolley, meanwhile there was more work done on the new chair and work was started on a folding saw horse.

Onion sets were planted and the planter was weeded. It was great to see the red flowers on the runner beans and we are hoping for some delicious beans to cook and eat. We dug up some of the garlic that we had planted in winter to check if it was ready, it's almost ready to harvest but we decided to give it another week.

We were pleased to welcome a new visitor this afternoon who came to see the project in action. They got stuck in and helped move logs and made some kindling. He is hoping to join us when we open for a second day on Wednesdays in September.
