Moving the brash

We have had a wonderfully busy day with a full group of students as well as a visitor for a taster session this afternoon. It meant we had lots of helping hands to move all the brash from the silver birch tree, which was felled last Tuesday evening. We are going to use it to build a bird hide.

With the brambles and bracken in full summer growth, we've needed to do quite a bit of cutting back as it is encroaching on the paths and Fruit Corner. We were also thrilled to be harvesting courgettes for the first time and cooked one up and had it for lunch - delicious!

More work took place on the new pond; we started to build up the sides around the top, as well as peeling more chestnut poles and sawing and splitting some pallet wood for kindling.
