Hot, hot hot!

Today it was all about staying cool in the incredibly hot weather. Wh were so grateful to be out in the woods and really appreciated the shade of the trees more than ever.

We bought a doggy paddling pool for Barley and Twig and it turns out we could all enjoy cooling off our feet!

Watermelon, iced lime and soda and iced coffee all kept us cool and able to enjoy being at Heartwood. Although the heat may have got to our heads as we decidied to forage for and eat a marsh thistle. Once the stalk has been peeled you eat the centre; it is crunchy like celery and surprisingly sweet.

One of the students found a toad and took it on a tour of the woods, which included a sit on the swing and watching the pond sitting on the student's croc before jumping into the pond. We are delighted to have our pond filling with life.

More work was done to finish the latest planter and it was placed in Fruit Corner and filled with soil ready for the new veg plants. Mark ended the day by tidying one of our incredibly messy cupboards- the heat must have gone to his head!
