Today the blog was written by one of the students. Helen was delighted to share this task. We had a slow start due to the heat. It was an incredibly hot day and we took some good photos of what everyone was doing.
We opened the charcoal kiln and bagged up over 50 bags of charcoal. Mark was very pleased with this as we still have more charcoal left in the kiln. Some of the students started work on making a chestnut hurdle. They split the chestnut poles using a froe and the cleaving brake and shaped the wood using a draw knife and shave horse. Work continued on the baseball bat using the pole lathe.
At the end of the day we gave Fruit Corner a good water and hosed down the people who have been working on the kiln as they were covered in black charcoal dust.
