We had a glorious day in the sunshine at Heartwood today. There was a long list of jobs to do and we worked hard to complete most of them, although there is always time for a go on the swing and lay in the hammock.
Lunchtime was a big cook up so we had to build an extra fire. Hot dogs and burgers and a curry soup were on the menu today- delicious!
The willow fence was completed and installed as a screen for the stand up urinal. We moved a dead silver birch tree to the kiln area ready for the next charcoal burn and cleared up sawdust from some chainsawing that had been done, to use in the compost toilets. The willow soaker has been converted to a planter and placed in Fruit Corner, our growing area. We drilled holes in the bottom and smashed up some hard core to place in the bottom for drainage. Before we could position it, we had to move a huge quantity of brash that was then chopped up using loppers and used to build up the dead hedge screen for the bath area. It was a productive and very enjoyable day.
