Sunshine and birdsong

Today at Heartwood we enjoyed such beautiful warm, sunny weather. We spent most of the morning doing group jobs in the coppiced area. These included sawing up dry woods for immediate fire wood, freshly cut wood to season for next year and we moved a lot of axed logs for future fire wood. We noticed the birdsong was louder and also that the tree buds are almost ready to burst into leaf. Some already have!

When we stopped for lunch we had a picnic in the clearing and it almost felt like summer again.

The afternoon jobs were pallet breaking, sawing and splitting pallet wood for kindling, starting the window frame in the poly tunnel, sharpening the draw knives and finishing making the 2nd joist for the new timber shed. It was a great day.
