We returned after our week's annual leave and it was great to see everyone again. One lovely surprise was that everything in fruit corner has stayed alive in our absence, thanks to Mark and Barley coming over to water the plants. We were thrilled to have our first harvest of runner beans and potatoes and can't wait to eat them.
Some of us started a new woodworking project making a saw horse from peeled chestnut poles. We are so pleased with how it is already taking shape and look forward to finishing it next week.
We dug a deep hole using the shoveholers to sink in a special composting bin for dog poo for the new puppy Barley. Barley was at Heartwood for the second time and he is getting used to the big crate and all the noises and smells and new people. He is very calm with the noise of the power tools, which is very impressive.
More kindling was made using the deconstructed pallet wood and the pallet breaker was used to dismantle the pallets. We then de-nailed the wood, sawed and split it to make the kindling. It was another fun day at Heartwood.
