Cooking charcoal and lunch on the fire

Tuesday was a glorious day and we enjoyed a dry and very sunny day. Two new students visited us and had a taste of what The Heartwood Project has to offer. They tried their hands at sawing and splitting, using a battery drill and driver and started to make a new garden planter. Some of the other students continued with the planter in the afternoon and it will soon be ready to fill.

One of our students made some charcoal for a charcoal pencil they had made. They peeled and cut up some thin willow and cooked it in a tin with a hole in the lid on the fire; it was very successful.

Taking Barley dog for a walk, cooking lunch on the fire, sorting the nail box out and harvesting peas and spinach from Fruit Corner were also enjoyed today.
