Blackberry jam, runner beans and finishing the saw horse and mallet

We had a hugely enjoyable day in the warm sunshine. Puppy Barley was incredibly relaxed today and sat in his crate watching all the activity around him - and there was a lot!

Before lunch we foraged for the last of the blackberries and made a delicious jam for our afternoon tea break, when we toasted French bread over the camp fire.We even made the cooking sticks for the bread. Fruit Corner was tended to and we harvested some incredibly large runner beans- what a difference leaving them to grow for an extra week made!

Lots of work was happening in the woodworking area and two of our projects were finished- the new static saw horse and a large mallet. The mallet will go to a local junior school to be used in their forest school for splitting logs for their camp fires. There was also some more pallet breaking and de-nailing and then sawing and splitting the recycled wood for more kindling. It was a productive and fun day.
