A busy week at Heartwood

helenstringfellow

We've had a good week at Heartwood- we welcomed some visitors who have come for taster sessions. There were lots of different activities on offer which included our first work on Fruit corner this month. We chitted potatoes in the poly tunnel and potted up a Jostaberry plant - a new friend for Fruit Corner.

Work was completed on the polytunnel shelving and we continued with some path clearance. One of the students added legs to the log sawing trolley and we made a Lot of kindling. Some of us peeled some chestnut poles and we did some team jobs moving logs to the log shed.

On Wednesday, we made an improvement to the small firewood shed and created a partition to separate the wet and dry wood- as suggested by one of the students. We split lots of kindling, saw up some of the silver birch tree felled last week and started work on a new oak chopping board.
